What We Do
Since 2004 the Conservancy has led the effort to protect Tustin’s historic homes, buildings and architecture.
We Educate
We sponsor educational events for the entire community. Topics range from sessions for historic home owners with experts on painting, plastering, and gardening, to fun events, like the our wine tasting at the City of Tustin’s Art Walk in October. During the Art Walk we offer free bus tours to show off Old Town, its history and its architectural heritage to visitors. Check our Events page for the date of this years Art Walk and wine tasting.
We Advocate
The Conservancy advocates for programs that strengthen preservation. We support the City of Tustin maintaining its Certified Local Government status. We support the Historic Overlay District. We support all efforts to maintain and preserve historic buildings in the Tustin area and monitor political issues that could negatively affect the historic district.
We Facilitate
Revitalization is happening throughout Old Town and we facilitate that by connecting homeowners to share their experiences and provide recommendations.
We facilitate adding more of our historic homes and structures to the National Register by providing monetary and administrative assistance to homeowners who want to be listed.
The Conservancy supports the City of Tustin’s Historic Registry plaque program for which we are proud to have provided funding for many plaques.
We also work with and monitor The Planning Commission which also acts as the Historic Resource Commission, to ensure Tustin’s historical integrity is maintained for future generations.
“If we don’t care about our past, we cannot hope for the future… I care desperately about saving old buildings”
